Jarden Corporation
Scenario
Jarden Corporation (NYSE:JAH), formerly known as Alltrista Corporation, was formed in April 1993 as a spin-off from Ball Corporation. Jarden is a leading provider of niche consumer products used in and around the home, and operates in three primary business segments through a number of well recognized brands, including: Crock-Pot®, Sunbeam®, Coleman®, Marmot®, Penn®, Rawlings®, and Volkl®. Headquartered in Rye, NY, Jarden has over 20,000 employees worldwide.
Piehead was selected as the online agency to develop a more powerful web presence for Jarden. Specifically, Piehead was retained to create a website that would attract visitors and increase traffic, highlight popular product images and create a contagious user experience. Lacking an internal marketing department, the Jarden management team called upon Piehead as a trusted partner to provide strategic marketing expertise.
Strategy
Jarden presented the project primarily as a need for a website "refresh". Through consultative research, Piehead additionally presented a brand review and recommended strengthening the tag line to: "Jarden: The brands of everyday life.™". It was then suggested that this new identity be solidly integrated into the overall web design initiative.
The web design strategy included incorporating the current site's Thomson-Reuters IR feeds, selecting vibrant and engaging homepage imagery to showcase Jarden products and creating an easy and pleasant shopping experience for consumers in an effort to increase organic online referrals.
Piehead is our go-to web strategy, design, development partner. They consistently deliver the highest level of service and quality work. We are very pleased with their process, communication and results. We are happy to endorse and recommend their work.

Solution
Within two months, visitor traffic to the new website increased four-fold. Shoppers entered the site via the homepage and then easily navigated through their shopping experiences via newly created subcategories. The rich-media product imagery proved to attract attention without compromising download speeds. In addition, the site garnered unsolicited accolades from shoppers who cited ease of use, and indicated having referred the website to other consumers.
In response to working with Piehead as an online agency partner, Jeffrey Ruger, CTO, Jarden, said, "The primary goals for our new website were ease of use, to create an engaging experience for consumers, and the incorporation of vibrant imagery that clearly depicted our product line. The Piehead team precisely met our goals! The team carefully created a complete website that included a flash homepage that dynamically displays our products, was easy to navigate and engaged our customers."
